AVERAGE JOE
10. Joey McGuire – Texas Tech
McGuire was hired from Baylor. Can he replicate Baylor’s recent success at Texas Tech?
9. Sonny Dykes – TCU
Dykes comes with plenty of head coaching experience. Taking over for TCU legend, Gary Patterson, won’t be an easy task.
8. Steve Sarkisian – Texas
The hiring of Sarkisian was met with skepticism. And still is.
7. Neal Brown – West Virginia
Brown typically has West Virginia in the middle of the conference standings. And, not coincidentally, finds himself in the middle of these rankings.
6. Brent Venables – Oklahoma
We know Venables can lead a defense. Can he keep up Oklahoma’s high standard?
5. Lance Leipold – Kansas
Hafley’s record at Boston College isn’t great, but you can see what he is building there.
4. Chris Klieman – Kansas State
Many miss the fact that Clawson has put together a solid tenure at Wake Forest since 2014 including an ACC championship game appearance in 2021.
SECOND TIER

3. Matt Campbell – Iowa State
What Campbell has produced at Iowa State is impressive. He’s already turned down multiple big time offers at other schools, but for how much longer?
2. Dave Aranda – Baylor
You don’t have to look hard to see that Aranda is a damn good coach. Athletic Directors with big budgets have noticed too.
TOP TIER
1. Mike Gundy – Oklahoma State
Championships are the goal. Being in contention yearly is the best you can ask for. And Gundy delivers that.
